I have my own opinion of what art is and what makes somebody an artist. Something I have seen in some professional artists is that they stick to one medium and one way to paint. In fact most of their work looks alike. They call it “my style”😏.
Most of these artists use what I call “tricks”. In fact they master those tricks. An example that comes to my mind is the use of (usually many) small strokes with vibrant white (usually in oil painting) to make vivid highlights. There is nothing wrong with that technique, it is “very impressive”. But there is “something wrong” if almost all the paintings use that technique to “be impressive”. Or to say in a different way to “create art”.
